Agriculture in Our County
Amelia County, located in south-central Virginia near Richmond, produces wheat, feed corn and hay on its 91,095 acres of rolling green farmland.
The county is also a tobacco-growing region of Virginia, where farmers raise flue-cured, sun-cured and fire-cured tobacco. In 2002, it ranked second in the commonwealth for production of sun-cured tobacco.
The county is also home to a number of Grade-A dairy farms.
Overall, Amelia generated $51.6 million in cash receipts in 2002.
